Frequently Asked Questions
-
My hot water heater is running out too fast. Why?
If you notice the supply of hot water isn’t lasting as long as it should, it may be an issue with your tank water heater. The heating element may be covered in grime or mineral buildup.
-
Why is my toilet running?
A toilet that’s running constantly could be dealing with any number of issues, including a broken flapper seal, flush valve or flapper chain. Sometimes it’s the handle itself that’s been damaged and separated from the chain. A running toilet wastes a lot of water, so it’s important to call Expert plumbers promptly at 925-364-5427.
-
Why isn’t my dishwasher draining?
One of the most common reasons your dishwasher isn’t draining fully is because the drain line is clogged. The line, also known as a drain hose, removes water from the dishwasher tub at the end of a cycle. If the drain line is clogged, water may not be able to flow properly. Contact Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning today for help with troubleshooting and repairs.

What should I do if a pipe bursts?
A prompt response is important if you’re dealing with a burst pipe because it froze. Expert plumbers should handle broken pipe repairs, but there are several things you can do on your own to keep the pipes from freezing in the first place:
Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing. Be sure to move any harmful cleaners and household chemicals up out of the reach of children.
Let the cold water drip from faucets served by exposed pipes. Running water through the pipe—even at a trickle—helps prevent ice from forming and freezing.
Minimize changes to the thermostat and keep your home at least 50 degrees, even when you’re not home.

What should I do if my garbage disposal smells?
Grind up food scraps right away with cold water and leave the disposal on for about 30 seconds to avoid a clog forming. You should also stop putting coffee grounds, eggshells, potato peels and other large food waste into the disposal, because they lead to drainage issues and bad smells.
