Our technicians will inspect the temperature release valve to ensure it isn’t blocked or damaged. This valve lets water to drain if the pressure inside the tank gets too high.
The anode rod is designed to intentionally attract debris, corroding itself in place of the water heater. We’ll check to see if this should be replaced.
Tank water heaters should be flushed a couple times a year to prevent the buildup of rust, corrosion, or sediment. Tankless water heaters should also be cleaned out periodically to ensure continued peak performance.
Tankless water heaters have filters that should be cleaned on a regular basis. These filters prevent sediment and excess buildup from getting into your piping systems.

Tank water heaters should be drained at least once a year. Technicians will also inspect internal components like the anode rod to find out if it needs to be replaced, as well as the temperature pressure release (TPR) valve to ensure it’s not blocked. The TPR valve releases water when there is an excessive amount of pressure in the tank and ensures that your pipes don’t burst. If this valve isn’t working right, we can recommend if it needs to be replaced.
Although tankless water heaters don’t store water, the system still should be flushed periodically. There are also two filters in tankless water heaters that stop buildup or debris from getting through, and our techs inspect and clean those completely.
Homeowners should schedule hot water heater maintenance a few times annually, depending on the model of water heater, energy source and local water quality. Tankless water heaters should have maintenance done twice per year.
Maintenance plans are worth the cost for several reasons. Having routine maintenance for both tank and tankless water heaters can reduce the need for expensive repairs because things are less likely to break. You can also prolong the lifetime of your water heater, reducing the odds of premature replacement.
